Me! I'm Heather Adams!
Many years ago I was looking for an activity to do with my golden retriever and we discovered agility. We drove to a weekly class. We were never taught any foundation skills, the trainer just showed us how to lure the dogs over the obstacles with treats.
Once we started competing it was clear there were some major holes in our training. It slowed us down, we made lots of mistakes, and it was very frustrating!
I also had a busy schedule and wanted to train at home, but at that time I had a yard that was just 450 square feet, and I had no money for equipment. I felt like I had no other options, so I just kept going to the same class, but we barely made any progress.
Then I got creative and started using various household items to simulate the equipment and learned quickly that the dog doesn’t need the actual equipment to learn - the same skill can be taught with anything that gets the dog to do the same or similar behavior.
I was having so much fun with my dog! I trained my next few dogs the same way and had success right from the start - without all that previous frustration. I started teaching these methods to my local students and watched them successfully compete with their own dogs.
Now I’m excited to be able to take these methods and teach you how to train your dog easily in your own home.

Heather lays out the lessons in an easy to follow tutorial and everything can be done in a very small space. This was a huge "plus" since we are not always able to get outside to train, Upstate New York winters are brutal.
I have used his program to help train my 6 month old puppy the necessary foundational skills before we attend in person agility classes when he gets a little bit older. Not only have the contents of this program been effective, but they have been fun to play with my dog as well; it tires them out as well. All the lessons made practicing the exercises at home so easy, and frankly hard to mess up. Each skill has a sequence of exercises to reach the desired behavior and you are able to go at you and your dog's speed.
Heather provides detailed instruction videos with plenty of opportunities to watch her train her dogs on the lesson you are on. I have even used some of the exercises to help fill in some gaps I had with my older dog, and it has carried over quite noticeably and quickly when we practice on agility equipment at home, at practice, or when trialing. There is a facebook page, which makes it extremely easy to contact Heather or other members of the program for support or to brag about your success.
This course will be my preferred foundational class for all my future agility dogs! I would recommend this course to any current dog agility enthusiast or those interested in trying agility for the first time with their dog.
